PM Internship Scheme 2024 |
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on July 23 that the government will introduce the fifth scheme under the Prime Minister’s Package, aimed at offering internship opportunities in “500 top companies” to one crore youth over a five-year period. This comprehensive scheme aims to provide students with exposure to real-world business environments, various professions, and employment opportunities for a duration of 12 months. Additionally, interns will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 5,000 and a one-time assistance of Rs 6,000. |
Which will be the top 500 companies? |
The selection of the top 500 companies participating in the PM Internship Scheme, where interns will receive compensation, will be determined by the companies themselves. Their participation in the scheme is voluntary. The scheme will be implemented in two phases: Phase 1 spanning two years and Phase 2 spanning three years. |
Both government and company will share the expenses |
Under the PM Internship Scheme 2024, the government will provide a monthly allowance of Rs 54,000 and a grant of Rs 6,000. Participating companies will contribute a monthly allowance of Rs 6,000 from their CSR funds and will be responsible for covering training expenses. The Finance Ministry has indicated that the scheme will be coordinated with relevant state government initiatives as required. |
Who will get the benefit of this scheme? |
The PM Internship Yojana 2024 is designed for individuals aged between 21 to 24 years who are not currently employed or enrolled in full-time education. Participating companies must use objective criteria for shortlisting interns, with a particular emphasis on those with lower employability potential. |
Who will not get benefit in this scheme
|
According to the government’s indicative list, candidates with qualifications from institutions like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISR), CA, CMA, etc., as well as those with family members in government jobs or who are income tax payers, are ineligible for the internship.
